Use Lifecycles and Workflows

Can anybody tell me how I can setup where every time somebody creates a
CAD part that it will use my Lifecycle and Workflows that I created
rather than the Basic Lifecycle preinstalled in Windchill? This would
seem a simple thing or a common thing but I can't find anything that
describes this process. Maybe I'm thinking in the wrong mind set just
from the lack of Windchill knowledge. I called PTC support last week
and the guy said he didn't know and would have to get back to me maybe
Tuesday of next week. I'm hoping somebody here would have an answer
because I can't wait until PTC gets there act together.

I think you need to edit the XML file that is associated with the Life Cycle Association Rules.

Under the Site | Business Admin | Object Initilization Rules | you may need to edit the wt.epm.EPMDocument file. In that file you'll see a line that says "BASIC_LIFECYCLE_NAME", that needs to be changed to your lifecycle name. Also, there's an argument that calls for team templates, number generator and version generator. Some of these must be changed in this XML file.

Let me know if this works. We are just finishing building our Windchill servers. Will be trying it next week.

Thank Rocco, I will try it. I had edit the Rule.xml file but I didn't
change "BASIC_LIFECYCLE_NAME" the the name of the Lifecycle I changed
just below that where it says <ARG>BASIC</ARG>. Does this
need to be changed as well? Thanks again for your reply.
