RENDERING...Q&A and GALLERY

Hi Skint

Nice renders. Did you Create the entire model using the Style feature or did you use some base geometry to control the basic size and scale of the model? Keep up the good work

Sorry, been away from the PC for a little while. Nice stuff going up on here lately. Great car model coming along, we share techniques!

Great start with the CS gun

Hey guys,

Thanks for the compliments

I only really used the side view image as shown for the Style feature, which gave me the hieght and length etc, then the width I mainly guessed from other images I have. Its a bit of a mess in terms of the model, plenty of surfaces, standard tools used too and yes plenty of rounds, I dont thinkI will win any modelling contests put it that way

.... but it was a decent exersize for ISDX, I need to pick something else to have a go at, ive been away at an exhibition for a week so Ive forgotten what i learnt already

Hi there,

I am new to PHOTORENDER with ARX WILD FIRE II

I cannot seem to figure out how to make the components reflect on them selves like in your rims you have the spokes reflecting back..

I'm sure its a simple setting.

Thank you in advance,
Richard

Hy,

Now I started to separate the parts of the Z4 body and thicken them also. I've made few steps about rendering also, but i have difficulties... :(

When rendering the headlight, the shiny surface behind the glass does not reflect the environment, just if I am using the Photorender -render. With Photolux it remains dim. What causes this?(i rendered it with the body paint instead as you can see) Can anybody help with this?

Besides CP has right, I did not use perpective on the previous pics. Theese new ones are also just attempts... :) no way to try with max detail till ready... it takes hours with my machine for sure...

Bye,

Buda

okay... meanwhile i found the solution. :) It worked well, i just had to spend some time and play with the settings.

I've found an another thing also! I made achromesphere and an anothertransparent one around it to fine tunemy settings...When finished with this it strucked me that i saw once an intresting techniquein a tutorial...The index lights has a "rough surfaced" lens.I tried to simulate this with bump mapping. I made a map in PS and the result is quite ok!! (I love this) :)

And this is how i could use it in the headlight assy:

actually while I'm here.. has anybody been able to simulate some backlit graphics?

as in a localised light (say an led) shining through some backscreened lens?

so the light in Pro would need to be inside the model..

is this possible?

James

Hi James...Did You trying to get your lights inside the model by additional coordinate system? and you can use same coordinates of some points which have the same coordinates like lights..
I have trying to do this earlier and with good result.

Let me know if I helped you. Good luck with calibration of lights :) .

Great work, keep going, we can't wait to see whole BMW rendered. Nice techniques with lights

James
No I didn't try to simulate light like in led diode, but you remained me of and old idea, that put light inside model and try to achieve glow from inside (like in movies when space ships have a thousand of lights).

Miko
Thanks for tip how to put light inside model, I was having trouble to do that, but now I know how for next time

Here is what I have achieve (WildFire 3.0 ARX):

Edited by: Isair

Isair, nicely done that impressive. I guess that is not possible with WF 2.0 ? I have not made the change to WF 3.0 yet because if I do, my company looses part of the maintenance package, so I would loose ISDX. I guess it was to cut down some of the cost, so I have to choose which is best for me, go to wf3.0 or keep isdx.

Skint
I'm not sure but I think that this is also possible with W2, I just got W3 so I instantly switch to it, this is only reason why I done this with w3.
As for choosing between ISDX and W3, well this depends on your job, if you do a lot models with ISDX and save time, then chose isdx, if not then maybe chose w3.
But personalty, I would rather chose more modules in current version, rather to switch to new basic version.

Hey Isair,

Yeah I know thats my problem, as you and everybody else already knows I am a pro-e noob so I am not too familiar with the skills required to create things with ISDX, But... I do understand the power of this tool and its potential so I am not sure I want to loose it. Hopefully one day I will be good enough to use it.

I obvioulsy can go to wf 3,0 straight away, but dont think the benefits of wf3.0 are worth having compared to keeping isdx.

I am currently trying to convince my company to pay the extra maintenance costs so I can get both, but its like getting blood from a stone !
smiley19.gif

Skint
Yes I know that is hard to convince boss to pay extra for maintenance or anything else.
But another suggestion for you, why not convince him not to pay maintenance, stay on W2.0, with ISDX but instead of paying maintenance, send you and other employers to Pro/E courses to learn ProE. Better for you better for him
smiley2.gif

It's just my opinion.

Oh now I got idea for lamp modeling and render it, hope I'll get some time in evning, I'll post results when I finish it

Hi Isair,

nice model, funny I tried that quickly yesterday, WF3.0, ARX and failed miserably!
smiley36.gif
I had a little bit more going on, a lens for the light to shine through and some low intensity colored light, but the light bled through the solid parts and my surface mask (surface mask was a surface offset slightly from the front of the clear lens with some text cut out from it and surface was opaque.

Hmm.. I'll paly with it a little more later!

Cheers,

James

I just learned rendering last week, so bare with me.

But here's one of my first attempt at rendering.

oh and its WFII It took approx. 30 minutes to render it into a jpeg using the SUN ULTRA20
