proe can’t read ethernet address

I recently installed broadband with a modem connected in USB port. Now, when proe start said that can't read ethernet address. The ethernet card work correctly (I put ipconfig and appears the ethernet number). I don't know I can do

Need more information.

Did you have Pro/E running on this computer before?

Are you using a local license or a floating one from a server?

Did you run ipconfig/all? How many NIC addresses were returned?

Did you run PTC's cpuid program to see what NIC address PTC is looking for?

What version of Pro/E? What OS?

I run perfect the proe before I installed broadband. I usinglocal license. When I run PTC's cpuid said that can't read ethernet address. The version of proe is Wildfire 2.0 and the SO is XP.

than you

when you install ProE cd, in the lower left corner you can see what CPU ID address ProE is looking for.

By that you can tell if your installation is correct, or you have to change CPU ID address.

That is my experience with it.

You probably need to change the order of Network cards seen in Windows registry.

Start Menu > Run > regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > WindowsNT > CurrentVersion > NetworkCards.

In here you may find more than one folder with values in it. Simply change the value of the folder containing details of the network card that Pro/E is looking for to one with a lower value than all the other folders (you might need to rename folder (if there is one) '0' to something else first.

I have come across this problem many times on laptops with wirelness network cards installed (ptchost id changing depending on whether a netowrk card is in use).

Hope this helps,

Phil

Hi,

While on this topic I have a quick question, WF3 xp, flexnet installed and says licence is ok but it can't verify ip address. Is this due to the fact its disconnected from a network or do you think its the 2 cards causing the problem. Based on id from pro e cd all should be ok.

Best regards
S

Type ipconfig/all and see how many Ethernet physical addresses are returned. Then type 'ptchostid' to see which address Pro/E is looking to for its license. Change in the registry as I have also explained if the cards are in the wrong order.

do you have the network card AND the usb cable plugged into the modem? that right there will cause you problems. get rid of the usb cable.

Had a problem with MathCAD not reading the license that worked fine for Pro/e. Turns out that the hostid defaulted to a firewire device. Used regedit to local and rename files, reconfigured a new license, and everything works fine now.

This thread helped me greatly, thanks.
