automatic BOM

I have played with the repeat regions some. Certainly confused some. Maybe I could start a thread as to how to set that up on an assembly from the beginning.

Build a table. Designate the table. Add mbr.name type info. Not sure what each variable does but can take it out of context when entering them....

This is from PTC help

Define a Repeat Region
1. Click Table > Repeat Region. The Menu Manager opens.
2. Click Add. You are prompted to select the corners of the region.
3. Click the lower-left cell, then the lower-right cell. Both cells are
highlighted. Click OK, then Done on the Menu Manager.
Now you are ready to enter the parameters for the assembly index
number and matching part name.
Add BOM Parameters

1. Double-click the left side cell of the repeat region. Because it is now a
repeat region, the Report Symbol menu opens by default. These are
the top-level prefixes, denoting the modules for which reports may
be generated. This menu lets you assemble a report parameter string

Well it looks as tho I may have answered my own question.

To add material:
&asm.mbr.ptc_material.PTC_MATERIAL_NAME

To add QTY:
&rpt.qty

Make sure to set attribute of repeat region to "No Duplicate" to have qty show up.

great. I got it to behave some. now I am going in for specific part parameters.

You need to have a plan from the start of how do you want your BOM to look at the end.
Put all on a piece of paper, make a table and write in each cell what you want to have. Then create the table in PRO-E with the necessary cells because later it will be a bit hard to change it.


I have all my BOM's in my format files. But you can create stand alone BOM tables save them as .tbl and load them on drawings.


You need to have in all your parts the parameters in your BOM table (description, material shape, lengths,....)

Got it. Can't modify once you designate the table as a repeat region. And of course when I searched for repeat regions I searched for the mis spelling. "repete" Jokes on me.
