WildFire 3 and WildFire 4

New member
Hi,

I want to use WildFire 4 besides WildFire 3 on the same machine. Can this be done without one installation interfering with the other ? If it can, can anyone give some advice how to proceed ?

Thank you very much in advance.

John

I was just wondering as the installation directories of both versions are added to the PATH environment variable can't this cause any troubles ?

Best regards,

You have 2 WF2 and 2 WF3 as per your statement. The only possibility is that you have both educational and commercial versions.

If thats true, is it needed. May be!

I seldomly now login and involve in the forum but your reply made me reply to this one.

Like what was stated previously just make sure you are installing into a different directory. Pro/E enables you to install and run every datecode if you so desire, you just need to make sure that you're installing in separate directories.

I currently have WF2 and WF3 both installed, and both run fine.

WF2, WF3 and WF4 all in separate directories. The installation will try to override the prior version but you just change the location and keep going.

Yes, it does add the installation folder to the path statement, so this could potentially cause some conflicts. Unless, the startup script for each version sets its own local path.

I never overwrite an existing installation when I load an update, I just install to a new directory. That way, if there is a big bug in a new build I just go back to using the previous build. Disk space these days is ridiculously cheap so a couple of extra Pro/E installs doesn't hurt anything.

Be aware if you are connected to PDMLink or Intralink 8. Your Workspacesmay be corrupted if entered from different versions of Pro/E.
