I ran WF2 on windows 7. It was(is) a network install meaning the install is on a server and I just mount the drive on my workstation and run from there. You could just copy an install from a windows XP to a windows 7 machine and run it as long as all the path names are the same.
The only problems with WF2 on windows 7 is in PTC's install program, not running the software.
I was able to run the install program by copying the
install program from WF3 to the WF2 directory and running
that. Apparently there are a few added "if processor =
xxx" statements in the versions past WF2 that are required
to run on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine.
