I created a custom symbol and I placed it on a drawing. Now, several months later I need to update it. I changed the symbol but it won't update on the drawing. How do I get Pro to see the "new" version?
I am assuming you updated the symbol while working on another drawing & saved it to disk, correct? If so just do:
insert/drawing symbol/custom
Then use the browse button and find your symbol. If it has changed since it was used in the drawing Pro/E will ask you if you want to update the definition in the drawing. Answer yes & it is updated.
On my WF2 don't work like this. Every time when I put themodified symbol, after I placed on sheet it looksdifferent then the old one, so I must to delete the old symbol. Pro/E don't ask me anyting... Edited by: gabrielferaru
Set the config.pro option pro_symbol_dir and keep all your symbols there. For some reason Pro/E thinks that symbols that come from different locations (with the same name) are different symbols & appends a version number to them rather than redefining the symbol definition. So if you have symbol SYM in your drawing and you retrieve it from some other location it comes in as SYM (2). But if you keep all the symbols in pro_symbol_dir and save a revised symbol there then retrieve it into a drawing it will update properly.
