Is it possible to create a flat view of a solid part? I have a round
gage part with sketched numbers wrapped around it. I need to have a
flat view in the drawing that will show all the numbers in a flat view.
Much like a sheetmetal part with a flat pattern. Any ideas?
You may be able to accomplish what you would like to do using the "Flatten Quilt" command. You will have to have seperation (a very small cut) if your feature is a closed piece of geometry. After adding the thin cut, add a point where you would like to have the piece unfold. Use the flatten quilt feature to unfold. In 2001 the command is "Feature > Create > Tweak > Flatten Quilt".
