Very impressed! PTC have bought a great product there.
It is easy to use, robust, fast and being stand alone free's up a seat of proe!


Would recommend! especially with the enhancements coming that i have heard about!

What kind of enhancements are we looking at?

I have Complete NC so there is a 50% discount through the end of the month. It will be a stretch to put together the funds to both get back on maintenance (expired in June) and the $5k for Pro/Toolmaker. Still, its something that I can put to work right away.

Hello,

We recieved an email regarding ToolMaker, but I am not familiar with it. What does it do? I noticed the comment about being a stand alone product. Would that mean essentially two completly separate programming systems? What is the compatability with Pro E?

Pro/TOOLMAKER is a CAM package which is aimed at the prototype and mold/die industry.
Being stand alone means it will not take up a seat of ProE so you can use this for designing. However it is still fully associative. If I am working in Pro/TOOLMAKER and someone changes then model and saves it, I will be notified straight away and asked if I want to update the toolpath.

I have heard that true 5 axis is being added along with cutcom and trajectory milling so this will suite 2d machining applications as well.

This is not correct (per the top of the food chain @ PTC regarding MFG products). Francois Lamy @ NOPUG (like a month or so ago).

What I was told:
1. The product is as it will be now. 3+2 only
2. Long term (after WF6 as functionality to that release is set at this point) some of the rest machining and stock model functionality will migrate from ProT to ProNC.
3. ProNC will remain THE solution for 5axis from PTC.

Currently there is no support for 2 / 2-1/2 D machining in ProT. No D comp, etc. I was told that is not where the product is going. ProNC will remain the COMPLETE solution it is.
