SYMBOL IN 2D FAM TBL IN DWG

I am trying to insert a symbol with variable text into a 2d repeat region table based on a family table. See below. I am currently leaving the parameter blank and adding the symbols with free attachments. The problem is when I move the table or add more instances the notes don't follow. I have tried inserting the symbol in an annotation in the model and then using &sym(<symbol_name>) in the parameter, but that doesn't seem to work. Any Ideas?

This post has been cross-posted in the Pro/Engineer CAD forum at http://portal.ptcuser.org.

From your drawing it looks like you are inserting the triangle symbol in the Material column. I would make that in to a comment column and insert them again. They should move with the instance as the table updates.

You are not driving the value in symbol from family table (from part), correct?

You are just trying to insert a symbol in table cell, right?

You can insert the symbol in table by putting &sym(your_symbol_name) in the cell.

Thanks for the responses.

PR: Haven't been able to make that column a Comment column. I think its because its part of the 2d repeat region and nota separate entity. Am I doing something wrong?

CH: No, I am not driving the value in the symbol from the family table, but I would if that would help fix the problem. When I call up the properties for the cell in the table it reads &fam.inst.param.value and is grayed out. Where can I insert the &sym() text?

Sorry Fred,
I didn't realize you were using Two-D repeat region.

What you can do is move the Material column to last and do not include that column as part of Two-D repeat region and just enter text &sym(your_symbol_name) in the cell.

For what I see in your table and from your response to CH what I think is happening is value that Pro/E puts in the Material column is the value of the Material parameter in your parts. As you wish to use the symbol you show, what I would do would be to filter our the Material and Rev columns from that portion of the table. Add two more columns. The first one leave blank. The second on add &fam.inst.param.name to thefirst cell and&fam.inst.param.value to the second. Filter out everything but the Rev for this new portion of the 2D repeat region. Now enter the text Material to the first cell of the blank column and make that column a comment cell, it should update with revision to the family table. Your symbols should be added to each cell as CH describes. If the column is not part of the repeat region and items are added and deleted from the table, the symbols may end up in the wrong row.

I am not currently working with Pro/E and have not done this for some time so you should use what I described as a guide and workout the exact method for table construction, filtering ect yourself, good luck.
