Stress Concentration

pro E users.
I am working on mechanical analysis to figure our
deflection ( Max Displacement ) in a model, its quite
complicated, and every time i run the analysis it takes
much time doing 9 run coz of stress not converging.
Displacement do Converge from 5 or 6 loop. My questions
are :

1) what is the procedure you would do ( after making the
model as simple as possible ) to minimize the stress
concentration? i mean, would you change anything in Mesh
options regarding the sizes and shapes of nodes?

2) would the spots of stress concentration affect the
Displacement result?

You can check what are the edges that haven't been converged.
After analysis check for the results and select P-level under "quantity" tab.

Examine than the fringe plot. The legend lists polynomial order from 1 to 9. You can see the edges out of convergence. Try to modify them (for example incresing the mesh on them or dividing the edge with a point..) or the geometry and restart the analysis. Usually higher is the mesh in that critical edges, better is the results (not always..). It's always a balance between time and quality of results.

Keep in mind that corners for examples are criticals beacuse of tendency of concentrating stresses. So try to use intelligent geometry!
