Save unlinked editable copy of a part

I've been unsuccessfully trying to save an unlinked editable copy of an existing part. What I have is a model of a part that I want to keep as-is. Although, I want to make a copy of that part. I intend to make edits to the copy and re-save this copy under a new name. The problem is that when I attempt this, edits made to the copy are also done to the original. How can this issue be fixed?

Thanks!

Are you sure that the edits are in the copy AND in the original ? I ask you that because, unlike other programs, SW do not switch to the new saved part. So... it is possible that you edit the original, not the copy.

If you wish to create a copy for a part you can use WINDOWS EXPLORER or MyComputer or WINDOWS COMMANDERto make that. It is not strongly necessary to use SW for THAT task.

Good luck !
