SAVE A COPY

1) We create a formed part


2) create a flat state


2) create drawing w/generic model and flat state instance


now here is the hiccup


I save a copy of this part and i get get a ready made drawing with this part. Because of my config settings it sees i have the drawing and makes a copy this is all good. Except guess what it does not see the correct flat state instance because the original was not renamed. it is as if it keeps its same name instance with a new generic name. is there a config that renames the instance with the save a copy functionality.

I don't think that there's such an option.


Rename the family table instances before you save a copy.

If you use Windchill you can use the "Save As" function in the workspace and you will be able to also copy the instance.


The problem is that when you do a Save As in Pro, it copies the family table instances exactly how they are. They don't get re-named.


Doing a Save As for an instance, only does the instance and not the family table.
