Problem invoking Mechanica

I have Pro/E and Mechanica. I can open each application independently, but I can not open Mechanica from Pro/E. I get a message saying it is not available. Do I need to set something up to let Pro/E know where Mechanica is on my computer? I am creating a model in Pro/E, then attempting to invoke Mechanica to perform my analysis.

Run ptcsetup.bat in your wf3/bin directory, and in the additional configurations part of the setup enter the path to the mechanica directory.

hi I have pro/e 3 and I think i have installed pro/e mechanica too but when i go to applications and select mechanica it goves me the following error
"mechanica native more is not avaialable only fme mode is available" can anyone tell me whats the problem???
 
Run ptcsetup for PRO E and make sure you are pointing to the correct location for Mechanica. Also make sure you have the correct licenses configured in setup. Hope this helps
 
In PTC Setup. Select "additional license configuration" on the next screen edit your licence configuration:

Try putting the Mechanica licenses under the "available licenses" section instead of the "startup and floating licences".

I had a similar problem and this fixed it.
 
No, the problem lies in the Optional Configuration Steps window. Select the check box for Configure Other Product Interoperability.

Then, select the loadpoint for Mechanica, like this:

Then, you will be able to launch / run Mechanica, integrated within Pro/E.
Note that your paths will likely be different from the images above.

Don't use spaces in program installation locations. It can only ever lead to problems...
 
u can try this:


open "D:\Program Files\proeWildfire 3.0\bin\proe1.psf" with notepad


find "ENV=MECH_LP="


change value to your mechwildfire installation directory


like:ENV=MECH_LP=d:\Program Files\mechWildfire 3.0

Hello Mechanica Guru,

I am also new to this, and unable to run the analysis.
Keep getting msg "mmwatch"
After hours of research on web found out that I need C++ compiler on Mech. motion . and configure the variable MM_C_HOME to read the compiler. I did all of this but still not able to run. Seems like I did not do it right. Can you guys help me out

1. What is Mechanism Dynamics Option?



Mechanism Dynamics Option is an add-on option to Pro/ENGINEER's
Mechanism Design Extension [commonly known as MDX], which allows
designers to simulate real-world dynamic behavior with force motors,
springs, gravity, dampers, impact, and more.



2. Is there any difference between MDX and MDO?



MDX lets designers examine how a mechanism moves [study of kinematics],
whether there is interference and what the space claim envelope looks
like, but it doesn't reveal how fast the mechanism will operate or what
forces are generate. In many situations, desired operations of a
mechanism depend largely on the speed and the forces generated between
its components-designers need MDO to simulate this.



3. Will MDO allow the users to calculate reaction forces and accelerations within the mechanism?



Yes. MDO provides full dynamic simulation including consideration of
gravity, inertia, and applied forces. MDO reports resulting forces
generated by the operation of the mechanism through graphs, tabulated
data, and/or animated vectors.



4. Does MDO have the same functionality as Pro/MECHANICA Motion?



MDO has more functionality than Pro/MECHANICA Motion in some aspects.
MDO will not initially contain all the functionality currently offered
in Pro/MECHANICA Motion [such as "Custom Loads"]. The plan is to
rapidly develop MDO to include all popular Motion functionality.



5. Can the user make use of the licensed MDO module without a license of MDX?



No. MDX license is required in order to make use of MDO functionality.



6. Compared to Pro/MECHANICA Motion, is a compiler [Microsoft Visual
C++] still required to proceed in evaluating the generated equations of
motion?



No. A compiler is no longer required no matter the OS architecture the
product is installed on. The Pro/Engineer engine will carry all the
evaluations.

The document continues, but the core issue is that the C compiler is no longer needed.

There may be other issues, such as licensing, or application interoperability, that may be preventing you from running the analysis. Part of this is handled during the installation of Pro/E and Mechanica.

You are right . we don't need C Compiler for MDO.
but I am running the analysis from pro-Mechanica wildfire-2/ Motion. and that need C Compilor.
Actually here is the whole story -
I could not find any book on Pro-engineer wildfire-2 motion desing and analysis, but I found a book on pro-Mechnica wildfire-2 Motion design . so I bought that book from SDC publication and start working step by step with the tutorial cam with the book (2 chapter)
Ball throwing example.so i know i am ok there.
Here's the last four lines of my Message log -
-Processing Mechanism
-building simulator
-Generating Equation of Motion
-compiling Equation
-Disconnecting from the Mechanica Motion Engine.

So a bit more info might be helpful. Can you tell us what version of Pro/E and Mechanica you're using?

Are you doing this in Independent Mechanica? (I. e. not inside Pro/E)

Tough to say exactly, since it's been so long since we've needed to use the compiler.
I have set Mechanica Motion up several times using the compiler, but not for quite a while. I thought the last supported version of the compiler was 6.0. That would be well before the Visual Studio versions. (Pre VS2003 for sure)

you could PM me, and set up a web meeting to facilitate trouble shooting the problem.
Your call on that, though.

I have pro-engineer wildfire2 version.

I tried this is Indepandent and Integrated mode also.

but when i run the analysis the message is same.

I am using visual basic version 8,may be that is the reason I cannot run the analysis.
