problem in view represent

New member
dear sir,

WF-2 I am not able to find represent command in drawing.this command is for hidingperticular feature on selected views in 2D.

in pro-e 2001 this command is available in, views-represent.currently i took the mapkeys from their and using the same in WF-2.through menu manager also i am not able to get this command.

i would like to get this command without using mapkey.

kindly suggest in this.

Regards,

Russel

I think it's the equivalent of showing a part simp rep in view (not an assy view). If I understand correctly, using the 2001 mapkey; #VIEWS; #REPRESENT, is as good as it gets in WF & WF2 unless (?)you go ahead and make an explicit family table instance with suppressed features. Guessone could embed the mapkey in a tool button if using the keyboard is annoying.

View attachment 3003This command is Represent-pick view-simplify(for suppressing perticular feature on picked views.this command which iam getting only through mapkeys of 2001.kindly suggest how can we get this command in WF-2

It's not that "it is not in WF-2", but rather "there is not a user interface for it in WF2".

Poke around on the weband look for articles on accessing similar items if you're curious about it. I've seen an article or two. "Take Back" (as in "take back the old functionality") sticks in my head as a search term. It may be risky business to actually implement any of it (?).

That will be thelogical explanation although I didn't find any mapkey for represent on my config.pro , interesting

, anyway I'm not using it, but it's there. I guess I'll have to use it now that is there

jeff send right link

but...

I did it some time ago and brought that func. to the Wildfire. It occured that WF was unstable due the fact of this function and crushed each time I was trying to change the represantation of model, or the view with represantion was not correct

till this time I do not understand why PTC disabled the model represantions in drawing. Does anybody know the answer?

Thanks for the heads up on the crashing. I think PTC's recommendation is to create a Family Table instance and Replace the view model. (I tried the mapkey once and that's, essentially, what itdid but transparent to the user.)

I'm sure I don't know why part view simp reps were removed from WF & WF2. I'd guess that it painted them into a corner for future development that they didn't like. Maybe a glimpse of what they put back in WF3 (which I haven't seen) will provide a clue.

I hope it is possible to still implement such a stuff into the program

or if not it cloud finish in brand new pro\e for a 2-4 years that will have all needed and nice tools but it won`t be possible to change older pro\e models

just like it is now with catia v5 to catia 4

I find that the option appears in the menu on my Foundation Advantage license, but not on my basic license. It's probably a part of the Advanced Assembly Extension or some other upgrade that my basic license does not have.

Oh, I'm using WF 2.0

Hello

We're using WF 3.0 and this command is back.

You have to do a simplified rep in 3D. Then create a new drawing.Inside the drawing window, right click and choose "property".

Then you have a new window where you can choose simplified rep to activate (it's the same method when you have two models in the same draw : you have to activate one or the other to make a view for it).

And then you can do a view for that simplified rep.

Hope it helps and sorry for french language in the pictures.

It was never gone. I'm using WF 2.0, it's there, but only onn my advanced license.

I beleive it's part of the advanced assembly extension.

ok the case should be clear - there is no problem to put simp rep from assembly to the drawing for such assembly. It is normal even in common WF 2.0

the problem is that it is not allowed in drawing for a part

and than in 2001 there was a funcionality that did not use simp rep from part, but it creates its own rep directly in drawing, but it was not called simp rep, only model represantation

and You can do it in WF 2.0 but You have to run with mapkey from 2001, that is the case

We're talking about different things here.

You're pic (why is it ~HUGE~, btw?) shows a
Drawing Rep dialog. See Help -> Detail ->
Improving Performance with Representations.

Attached zip is WF2. Note the part Family Table.
I did not create that. It was created by Pro/E
when the view was simplified (Hole 1 suppressed)
using the pre-WF mapkey ...
mapkey vrv #VIEWS; #REPRESENT;
... which you can load up and try.

It's not the same thing as showing a part simp
rep in a part (active model) view which seems
to have been added in WF3. In WF, WF2 you have
to place the part in an assy, create an assy
simp rep showing the part rep and make the
view referencing the assy simp rep.

It might also be worth noting (I really don't
know anything about it): Help says Drawing
Reps are only avialable with AAX and I don't
believe there is a menu pic to get you there
but Drawing Reps can be created in WF2 without
AAX during File -> Open.
