Pro/Mech to Pro/Eng

Greetings,

I have got an very old pro/Mech model, I want to import it to Pro/Eng
WF2, for some mods. I cannot read the mnb file straight to WF2 then i
have created an IGES file in Pro/Mech WF2 and i have opened the iges,
which works but the default length unit is "in" (status bar MSG:
Default IGES unit "in") even thought all my Pro/eng is configured on
"mm".

How do i overcome this problem?

Fabio

Dear Fabio,

IGES files written in Mechanica are always given inch units by default,
since Mechanica is unit neutral. There are two options;
edit the IGES file, or convert in ProE after
importing.

1)

Open the IGES file in a text editor and search for 4INCH, replace with 2MM. This doesn't seem to be too reliable.

2)

Import the IGES file into Pro/Engineer, then go to Edit:Setup and
select Units. This brings up the units manager. Select 'millimetre
Newton Second (mmNs)' and press the Set button. When the 'Changing
model units' pop-up appears, select the 'interpret dimensions' radio
button. The model will now be in millimetres.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks Rob,

The second method worked fine.

I am sure that I will have more question in the future.....

Thanks Again.
