Printing Config.

We have an OCE printer which is very good when printing with autocad, but gives me headaches when printing with pro/e. Do you know of any way to do a print preview with pro/e.

By the way William, You can only select the configure button when in a drawing. When in a part or assembly it is greyed out.

arroyopr,

File, print, configure..., then select model the model tab, the plot (default is set to Based on Zoom).

That's exactly my point, I don't want to select nothing. I want print full plot as default. And yes I know this is for dwg. printing only.

What you can do is as omarhernandez said, but renamethe printerView attachment 3709

and save it in your plot_config directory (if not set up as a config option,it's under

C:\Program Files\proeWildfire 2.0\text\plot_config

Then you can use the config option plotter with the value of the printer name you renamed it to. This will set it as the default printer.

Robert,

By any chance do you know how to do a print preview with pro/e. We have an OCE plotter, but it doesn't print very well with proe. Any suggestions?

Go to options:

save_drawing_picture_file, change to embed

that will do he trick, but make sure that the dwg. is save first.

o.K. guys i created the map k, but there is a little problem, it's for one paper size only. So i went ahead and create a new pcf file with all the details that i needed. then i save it in the plotter config. and set that file as my defualt in my windos printer manageras suggested and problem solve.

thank you for all help. btw omar i don't know if there is a way for print preview in wf3. Some time autocad has its advantage from pro-e. Keep us posted if you find the solution.

@Omar

There isn't print preview in ProE, but there is way around.
Some printer have ability to show print preview, before you go to printing (not print preview from software), so if your printer have that ability you should turn it on (I have tried on my printer, but it never worked, and windows friezed after I tried to print).

Another option is to create plot file (print to file), rename file from .plt to .ps, and open it with GhostView (you can download it, it is free utility).
Now you can see your plot file, how would it be printed, and if everything is ok, just print it from GhostView.

I know that this isn't right solution, but if you have problem printing your drawings, with this you can reduce bad prints...

You said that the solution you told me wasn't the right way, but you can only do what pro/e was programed to do. That sound like a very good solution to my problem. I'm going to try it right now.
