Hello




I've tried to make a helical gear,and i've done it.But I've hear someone that there is a program(don't know the name-maybe youknow it) that works fine with solid works,and I supose it's working with pro E also,that is making the gears on it's one(you only insert the module,the helix angle,nr of teeth,presure angle.... )


In Pro E are predefine gears and I dont know it???


Maybe someone knows the nameof the program that makes the things sayd before(the program use solids,and thancan be exported and the inported in Solid Works,I hope Pro E too)

I'm also trying to model helical gears, but i'm unable to find models that i can consider correct.


I've read an article that stated that Integrated Gear Software from UTS, gives you the capability to model gears and imported them to Pro via DesignLink, but i have'nt had the time to try it.

What you mean saying you are unable to find correct helical gear models.


In Pro/e iot is relatively easy to model by your self helical gear with exact involute tooth profile at given helical slope.

Maybe you could have a 3rd party make a gear creation tool for you with J-Link or Pro/Toolkit? Would a gear geometry creation program save you enough time in your job to justify the cost of creating such a program?

You're right but I've only asked if there are predefined gears.I've found a program that makes gears andit works with solid works.The question I wanted to ask was: Isn't A program that worksin the same way with pro e??( the program that wors very fine with solid works and inventor is geartrax)

you know you can write ur own little program using pro-program.



so u are prompted questions when u load up ur start part which will then be used to drive ur geometry



ie





pcd ? #teeth? od? shaft id? etc



its not very hard. just look @ other peoples examples of pro-program
and adapt it. only took me an hour to make a basic gear using program
and a little digging around.





only catch is that you have o be able to make ur original model and know how to manipulate it.

I know isn't hard to make a simple involute gear,but a helical gear with the teeth defined by involute isn't so easy to make(I've done it but a school teacher(specialist) told me that the tooth profile isnt in the frontal plane of the gear, it's in a plane that is normla to thedirection(helix angle). Defining the involute in that plane with the mathematical equations will not make the gear lookright.


Making the involute profile of the tooth in the frontal view of the gear and then cuting with sweep blend looks very nice but teacher sayed itn's right, so...


If anyone made the helical gear right, I ask him to help me!!!!

I've made the gear fully parametric,but the equations for the curve that define the involute of the tooth profile isn't in the frontal plane of the gear(i've done it so), it's in a plane that is normal to thedirection(helix angle).When i'm tring to make the profile in the plane normal to the direction of the helix angle the gear isn't looking so whell,but the school teacher sayed that is'nt right how i've done it!!!!


So I don't need a gear made by you, I've need some help in makeing the tooth look right

I don't work with gears but in my ProE appears a aplication named Power/Gear Weel wich is integrated in ProE (such as lateral menu - my company works with 2001). I don't know if is a 3rd party software or is aPTC aplication but here is how it looks and how i start it:

Aren_t a lot of people who have that application

I also use mitcalc which is basically a microsoft excel based program in which you define the gear parameters, dimensions and calculate any other factors. Then the 3d model can be generated in a multitude of CAD formats

I was also interested in creating involute gears. You may find an article posted on ptc's web page (I have to look for the address). perhaps that page will be enough to start an involute gear in proe.
