hello

i am doing modeling for a part which looks like a segment of an arc.

i modeled it,now i want to pattern this part (axial) such that it should become a circle

can any one help me on this

leenus

sir,

here i am up loading my file,

2005-04-20_225312_slip_rings_k_r.prt.zip

i hav to patteren(axial) the segment ,when i am trying to do it,it is prompting"referance should be older than patteren".

and one more thing is the gap between the two patteren is 2mm.

we can make patteren with the gap or we hav show it in drawing mode

thanking u sir

regards

hey leenus2b i saw ur file ..

regroup all ur features

and then make one b4 them being ur axis

then u can pattern it via axial patterning

hi

puppet,

my part was patterened successfully, but,"how to gat a gap of 2mm between the parts."<br style="text-decoration: underline;">

thanking u for ur guidence

2mm gap? well ideally when ur makign ur initial part you should have worked out the offset gaps... to accomidate this.

ie

1)work out how many times u want it patterened

2)work on only that one segment. but create small offsets when
that connecting peice would meet up with the next peice. ( if u want a
2 mm gap per item then u need a 1 mm offset)

3) then pattern your part.

dear puppet,

thanking u for giving me such a wonderful support

i get the gap bydoing a feature and patterened it,

when i am trying to do in the method that u tell at
first, creating offset ,that
offset is not highliting

how to get that offset ?

once again thank u for ur support

regards

just make a extra feature before patterning the segment.

on that feature just refernece ur geometry and trace over a 1mm overlap on either end

when you pattern your segment then use a patteren of type "reference" to copy that feature.

or simply regroup everything to incorperate that feature.

would send u the file but its a long weekend here, so i dont have access to work pc for many moons :)

Hello there.

There is another method of doing the same thing.

Create a complete ring with the number of cuts desired say 4, 6, 8...

Create a family table and include / Exclude the features to get the component.
