modelling contained fluid

Hi Guys.

I have an oil-filled assembly containing various parts and i want to model the oil to include it in mass properties, cog analyses etc.

I can create the oil as a merged part without problem, but when it comes to cutting out the interfering parts I hit a snag.

Most of the interfering parts are hollow casings, and I don't want the hollow parts of these to be oil filled. There are a large number of them, many relatively small components.

Is there any way i can exclude these so ProE treats them as filled solids? Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Dave

Try using "Component Operations" - "Cut-Out". You can select which parts are used as references to remove material from a "start part" of oil. I've used this approach to construct the fluid volume for all my CFD models.
