Modeling challenge - hand drill

hey Fella's, to promote a bit more of that competition feeling to this post, I scanned in a handheld drill for us to model to. I'm going to be starting straight away cause I have a feeling that Jacek doesn't sleep!! He just plugs in for a recharge!! I had to post it on my ftp site logon to the following to download:

username: general

password: letmein

Hope to see some models soon!!

You meanbecause of the dodgy plastic looking surfaces, I think this has been scanned, aka reverse engineering.

Ps. Assume you guys are not using ISDX at all ? I dont have it

yeah its a real drill, its a very quick scan, only put about 15 mins into it really.

I'm not using ISDX anyway. I'm going for purist!!! :)

these are good news, I am so curious how are you guys going to lay the curve network and patches. I stay tuned.

I installed WF 5.0 couple of week ago and was given a little time to play with it and check the difference(still foundation package). So, what I have doen so far was small challange around another drill.

I haven`t found so much improvements in the field I was expecting regarding surfacing - i.e Curve tool without changes, no dynamic curvaturre in sketcher. In fact there si plenty good things regarding sketcher. Finaly offseting sketcher entities is possble.

So back to the topic - I picked up Adam O`hern VPX drill and gave it a chance

this is my try so far

Jacek, I cant wait until Black & Decker have job`s going in thier development team, you will get the job hands-down without even an interview haha. You will be the drill master !

Those drill images are excellent if they are hand drawn renders !

I wish it was true

since they handle their development in Catia I don`t see it possible

Yea, Adam did a great job regarding sketches, they`re awesome. I contacted him and he put some light into direction I should follow. In fact, as far as I understood it right, he was not that much involved in surfacing in Catia.

Lately I bought a polish book regarding Surface modeling in Catia. Book is big, and worth its price. Toolset in Catia is amazing, Proe/E seems to be far, far behind

but only in the fields of reat accuracy, transition greater than G2. In another fields competition is possible.
