Locked Dims

WillD

New member
I'm new to Pro-E, Having had Inventor & SW experience. In the sketch I am used to having fully constrained sketches. Is there a way to set my dimensions to stay locked? This is very useful for me as I like to drag sketches.

Thanks in advance.

Scott, I do that know. But if I return to the sketch after finishing the cut/extrude, the dims are again "floating". can you keep em Locked?

Hmm, I never noticed that. You're right. That kind of sucks.

Any gurus out there with a config option?

Guys,

I found this on the PTC site when I did a search in knowledge
base. It looks like the only way to get the dimensions to stay
locked after exiting the sketcher would be to set up relations as
advised below.

Description
-----------------
Locked dimensions become unlocked once
Sketcher is exited.

Alternate Technique
-----------------
Create
Sketcher Relations of type: d7 = 3.87
This will "Lock" dimensions so they
cannot be modified.
OR
Re-lock the dimensions once back in
Sketcher.

Resolution
-----------------
This is intended behavior.
Locked Dimension functionality was implemented only for dragging section
entities in Sketcher. This information is not preserved when exiting the
Sketcher session, as it would limit redefining or modifying a dimension in Part
mode.

gimmejava...

why the small, hard to readfont in your post? Are you running Windows or another OS. Just curious.

Is this better? I just cut and pasted directly from the PTC site, thus the small font.

No need to get pissy about it - I was just curious as to why your postwas different. I thought that a differentOS or browsermightpost different fonts.

I thought it was kind of funny...When in doubt, assume sarcasm, it will keep your blood pressure down. The perils of electronic communication.

For what its worth; I've heard that in Wildfire 3.0 the dimensions will stay locked when you exit and re-enter sketcher.

hi willd

Set your config option sketcher_lock_modified_dims to yes. When you do thatevery modified dimension will become locked automaticly. Of course it doesn't solve the problem you are mentioning but it's helpful.
