Can somebody tell is there a possibility to use a library of standard mechanical parts in proE wildfire, and how to start using it ? Where do you activate this library ? Is this library already present inside ProE, or should it be installed separately ?
It is defined by the config.pro option "pro_library_dir". My library, for instance, is all the parts I use repeatedly (frames, plates, nuts, bolts, etc.). I put all the different vendors in subdirectories under one folder which is defined as the library. The advantage is it is available on your pulldown so you don't have to go searching for it.
This pro_library_dir defines the place where you have stored your own parts. But I want to know if there is any library of standard parts, (screws, bolts, nuts etc.) already built in ProE by drefault, so you don't need to model them by yourself. I know that such libraries are built by default in Solidworks and Catia.
There is, BUT, I don't use BECAUSE I use family table and this why. (Family table are like configurations in Solidworks) When replacing a part, say a screw because it is to long or short, ifthe screw is not a part of the family table replacement is a female dog.I myself took a day to make a generic nut, generic bolt, etc, and add all the McMaster-Carr fastener sizes up to 1/2", for me it paid off.
BUT, to answer your question it is on one of your installation CD's. Should be automatically installed, but Pro/E does everything the hard way.
When you start a ProE session, above folder browser press the hammer icon and then CATALOGS. Browse this catalog directory to see if it has something you need.
