isdx for auto transmission housings

We have some seats of pro but all are the basic package, with the basic surface modeling capabilities. We model a lot of automotive transmission housingsand have always done so using solids, but we are at the point where the housings are getting very complex, and modelingwith a history based model tree bites you in the foot every time, some surfaces and intersections are or nearly are impossible to do with solids. So my question, is ISDX the answer to our modeling problems? Will it speed and ease modeling time for large feature countparts that require a lot of complex casting type features?

Thanks Shaun

It will ease modeling from what I've seen. Curve & surface creation & control is about 100 times better in ISDX. Plus its more robust which will cause less headaches downstream. I wouldn't say that youcan create surfaces with ISDX that you can't with Pro/Surface, but its much easier and quicker. Its not a cure-all or the answer to all your problems, but it will definitely help. The real question is, is it worth 5K per seat plus 900 maintenance.

I think you will be very happy with ISDX. You will probably still have to add ribs conventionally, but the large sculpted portions of the model will be much easier to create, and the model will be much more robust, particularly if you use a lot of rounds. I have found it to be very cost-effective, even though I use it infrequently.
