Involute Gear

Hello eveyone!

I'm trying to figure out how to model a gear on the educational version of pro/e 2001 and my problem is that I don't know how the comand or variable todeg works, and I don't understand what is the 14 used in the ecuation for.

I am using this relation:

rbase = ??

todeg = 180/pi

a = 0

solve

a*todeg-atan(a)=trajpar*14.0

for a

sd4 = rbase*(1+a^2)^.5



Also, how do I figure out what angle to use when I sketch the trajectories for the variable sweep?
