Import surface gap

Surfacing question:

I have an import surface that has a dished out surface that forms a finger depression. However, the surface that links the main profile to the dished out area is failing on import. Any ideas where to start to repair this? I have tried the following:
A) Boundary blends-tangency is lousy and makes ripples
B) redrawing the dish surface- does not match the existing shape
C) Swept blend

I am trying VSS to see how that works, ISDX is not available for me at this time.

a picture for reference:

To use boundary blend on this applicationyou need 4 edges. Cut out triangles from both sides to give you 4 edges to use instead of two. Make sure you set tangent constraints on all four edges.
