import into startpart

KurtStark

New member
When I import parts from a supplier, I would like to import them into our startpart, for having all the necesary datums, relations, parameters....

What's the best way to do this?

Thanks, Kurt

Hey Kurt,

You can do this, here are the steps:

1. Open your startpart or startasm.

2. Goto Insert->Shared Data->From File...

3. Select your IGES, STEP, Parasolid...etc. part from the "Open" dialog that appears, click "Open" button.

4. A new dialog will appear (most likely in the lower right-hand corner of the screen) prompting you for the coordinate system to which to place the imported geometry. Select the desired coordinate system and choose "OK".

The imported geometry should now be part of the startpart.

Hope this helps.

This is even better than opening a new part first. Just add this to your config.pro file.

! Use default templates when opening a translator part
