How to change default part color?

I having a trouble with a bad integrated graphic card. I know you will tell me that the best idea is to change a graphic card, but my boss doesn`t want to pay for that :) Colors of my default part are too bright, I tried every graphic mode with no result. Only the software OpenGL emulation showed some results, but computer is too slow in that case for ProE. Today with a OpenGL mode turned on, I tried to make some changes in Appeareance Editor and I got some results. I copied default REF_COLOR1 material and then lower slider for color intensity and the color of the part was perfect. I wish to know how could I apply these setting everytime I start ProE, or how could I modify default REF_COLOR1 material.

I don't think you can change the default Pro/E color but you can change the color of your start part (template) and every new part will be that color. You could also make a mapkey to change the color of an existing part.
