I think you would need to make a deformed area and the end result might be as much of a guess as anything. You can try the reverse and form out a flat piece until you get it like this then you might know what you started with?
magneplanar I don't know how can this... It is possible make something like flatten quilt (Insert->Advanced-> Flatten Quilt for ProE Wildfire II)? I see this technigue here in this forum. If you want give me a email and I send. But in this case...?!?
