Hiding features using simplified rep

I have a cosmetic feature in my model tree in an assembly. I want to make to representations of this assembly, one with the cosmetic feature and the other without. Could someone tell me if this can be done using simplified reps and if yes then how.

You use layering for this. Put the cosmetic on a layer, and then show it in the views you want, and hide it in the others.
