HELP WITH REVOLVE CUT

I am trying to use the revolve cut feature and it doesn't seem to be working.


I make the profile, then exit sketch, and the profile doesn't come out, the cut section extends out as far as the furthest point of the sketch where it touches the part, then it removes material all the way to the other side, regardless of the section's depth, and the material on the side closest to the axis is also removed, even when the sketch says that it should stay.


Is there something that I am missing?


I have Solidworks 2005-2006 student edition.
