GRAPHIC DISPLAY PROBLEM

Good Morning


We have a graphic problem on one of are workstaions, we have 9 seats. About every few days one of the workstations will not display the dimensions in sketcher. It seems to only happen in sketcher. The dimensions are still there but not visible. If you create a dimension in sketcher the original dimension will apear along with the create one. This problem fixes itself by logging off and logging back on. All 9 workstation are the same. Intellistation M Pro 6230 with a NVIDA Quadro FX1100 graphics card. We are using Wildfire 2.0 M250, Intralink 3.4. We have been using these workstations for about a year and a half with no problems. This started about 2 months ago. I called Pro/e and they said the graphic card is not supported for Wildfire 2.0.

First, I would have suggested verifyingthat you have the drivers specifically certified by Pro/E for your card - which frequently are not the latest - but you have already stated that this card isn't supportedfor use withPro/E.


The underpowered graphics card may be the problem. You may be out of video memory, or the card can't handle the decision-making process on what to display.Does this problem develop only after you have using Pro/E for a while, or if you have a lot of Pro/E stuff in memory? Also, make sure no other programs are running.


It always makes sense to use only those graphics cards supported by your CAD vendor. Moreover, use those cards specifically recommended by them. Acouplehundred bucks of added investment can make all the difference in the long run.

If it happens on one of 9 similar workstations then you have to look into what's different. If all the hardware is the same, then maybe the drivers aren't the same. If hardware and drivers are identical then look for installations of other programs, utilities, ... somewhere there must be something different. But is isn't always obvious to find. A settting for video accelaration, defining a function for the mouse scroll wheel, having a messenger in the background, ... all these things are enough to cause problems.


By the way, looks like you have flemish people up in your family tree.
