i created an in-place part, projected a profile which gave me an ellipse with no quadrants, centre points etc. how does one determine a centre, or quadrant?
I do not understand what means "centre" for you.
If it is the point of symetrie, try to draw a rectangle outside of the ellipse (in the same plan with the ellipse, of course). Then make each the rectangle's sides tangent to the ellipse. The center of this rectangle is the ellipse's centre.
If "centre" is one of the two special points of the ellipse F1 and F2 (I do not know the english word)... I have no ideea. You can compute this points (see math).
