File Name Length Restrictions?

Hi,

I am trying to rename a drawing file via File>Rename but when I do I get an error saying "The new name is invalid". The new name is 33 characters long. The old name is 26 characters long. The new name adds only numbers and an underscore, all of which were in the old name.

Does Pro/E limit the number of characters you can have in a file name? If so, is there a config setting I can change to increase the max allowed number of characters?

Thanks!

Aaron

Yes, it is limited and no, you can't change it. 33 isn't much over the limit. It might be 32. Keep shortening it until it works, then you'll know.

31 characters has been the name limit since day one. 32 would seem like a more normal binary kind of number but no, PTC picked a prime number. And NO SPACES.
