Every save creates a new part ;-(

We have a pro/e user who wants to know the following:

Every time I hit save, a new file is created, thus I'll end up with five part1.prt files. How to fix this?

Thanks for the quick reply.

This is the way pro/e functions. If you are certain that you don't need to use the old files, you can purge them using File -> Delete -> Old Versions - it prompts for the filename (default the open file).

You can also set up a mapkey that saves and purges at the same time.
That will keep your working dir clean.

Depending on how you set the order you can have two or just one version saved.

do a web search for a utility called Spekan Purge and you will probably
never use the Pro/E purge function again because it enables you to
purge all your folders at once e.g. at the start of the day after your
overnight backups have run.

It also has other good housekeeping options.

... or Window -Open System - Purge for purging working directory. But this options I am using before quit ProE because of some mistakesduring work - then only delete last version.

Then what happens when you have a corrupt file or a bad save or you want to roll back to an earlier version of the part? I'd recommend only purging periodically. Learn how to use clean, purge, and your shell and you'll be all set.
