Datum Visibility

Hello all,

I have a revolved part created from a sketch on the front
datum plane. I am trying to attach a datum to the inner
diameter dimension on a section view in the detailed
drawing.

So far I have done the following:

1) Created a datum axis from the revolved inner surface
of the part and attached the diameter dimension to that
datum. In the model, the datum symbol shows up as
attached to the diameter dimension.

2) When I dimension this feature on the sectioned view of
the part, the datum symbol does not appear. The
sectioning plane in this case is the front view. When the
datum symbol is attached to the datum itself and I show
the axis in the drawing, the datum appears, but it does
not when I attach it to the dimension and create the
dimension.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the datum
symbol appear on the dimension? Thanks in advance for the
help!

It sounds like you are creating the dimension in the drawing. You need to be showing the part dimension in the drawing for the attached datum to show up.

You can show the datum axis for the view and it should show the axis and the datum tag attached to the axis. Select a leg of the axis of the datum and right click properties. Select

You do if you already attached the datum to a model dimension as he said in the original post:
