CREO - First Impression?

I was thinking the other day that Creo crashes differently than Wildfire. When WF pro/closes, it's suddenly, like a splash of water in your face. You're left thinking, "what! no! @#$%&~!@*!"

When Creo crashes, it's like it collapses into itself, like into a singlularity. You almost think for a split second to reach for it and then there should be a "poof" or something right after it happens (which is a lot).
It's somewhat elegant in a way.

you sound like a treky talking. I haven't noticed. Will next time. I crash once per day no matter what. ;)

finding M010 Win7x64 pretty stable for general modelling
and assembly work

what area are you in when it crashes ?

There's a few changes using it - highlighting is now
affected by the transparency switch. Need to leave
transparency on as highlighting is now solid shaded
rather than wireframe - you cant see thru it with
transparency off.

Used to switch transparency on and off quite a bit when
doing design but now you have to go and change
transparency of material to turn it off.

I'm still fighting with tangent edges :D In CREO Elements/Pro tangent edges were not visible in shaded with edges view, which was convenient so I did not have too clutter. But I could always switch to "hidden line" view to see tangent edges as solid lines or phantom lines. In CREO Parametric, M010, I can hide tangent edges in shading with edges view, but this affect all view styles, and you can't have phantom or dimmed edges. I should cure the issue with a mapkey...

edge display is not very consistent - they still haven't
sorted out edge display in the analysis tools - draft,
curvature, slope etc.

Under Files>Options>Entity>Tangent Edges Display
Style
... solid and no display affect the display
but Phantom, CL and Dimmed dont seem to do anything. Any
ideas about those?

There also seems to be a bug in DRAWING mode regarding
these edge styles and the use of smooth lines option.
Sometimes it jumps out of smooth lines mode - playing
with edge styles can force it back.

You would have to say its an improvement but still a work
in progress.

They affect the display only if you are in wireframe or hidden lines mode, in shading mode edges are not shown by default, and in shading with edges it works like you said. Not so good, but I think they are fixing it, I'd love the ability to define different tangent edges for different view styles...

It would be great to be able to customise the graphics
toolbar
(the one in the display pane) with some of
these options. Havent found a way of doing this.

Its also interesting to go back and use WF5 - the ribbon
bar is actually a huge improvement. The speed increase with
WF5 is also palpable - not so good.
