copy or export parameters

New member
I have been trying to figure out how to copy the parameters of one partto another part. I notice that you can export the parameters to a text file using the menu picks from the parameters dialog:

File>Export(info)

Does anyone know of a practical use for this since apparently you can't use the file to import the parameters into another part (noticed that there is only the "export" menu pick).

Alternatively, does anyone know of a good way to copy the parameters in Wildfire 3.0 from one part to the next?

Put them in your start part.

Modelcheck can add parameters to a file.

Make a mapkey to add the parameters.

also if you have any jave/programming experience...you could use weblink

the source in in the examples that are in the weblink folder...hmm cut and paste up a new file perhaps

jbloomfield,

In your assembly you can select to show the parameters of the models and copy and paste whatever you wish to the respective parts.

In the assembly choose: Settings button-->Tree columns

A popup window will give you a variety of options which also may be useful.

Start with the top left drop down "type" and choose "model params".
you will then get a list of all the parameters in use in the models. Choose each that you want to display and migrate them with the center arrows to the "displayed" window. Apply the changes and close this dialogue box.
You can then spread the tree column wider to view what is set for each category, some may have no information.
Copy and paste the data to each one or fill in any that you want to by selecting the corresponding box for the part and parameter

this will migrate the parameters to each part and requires the saving of the parts in some manner (either with your assembly save, depending on your settings; or each part individually)

this may be the way to transfer the parameters that you are looking for.

Ideally, you should set the parameters in your start parts. Then they will already be in the parts when you make a new part or add an empty part to an assembly.

cheers...

How do I find my start part? This issomething I'd like to know more about.

Bunterhund, how do I use the freeware? The web address you gave didn't give me any English instructions.

Start parts are located in the <Pro Loadpoint>/templates folder or the location defined by Start_model_dir in your config.pro file.

This seems like something that could really come in handy for me on occasion, since we're at a point where we haven't implemented any kind of data management system yet. Unfortunately, the program is telling me I have no parameters for these parts. I must be doing something wrong, although I followed your instructions exactly, and a window did pop up telling me what the parameters for each part were. There just weren't any.

Most of our parts only have a few parameters. Every part has a weight and description, and then many others have height, length, width and/or thickness as parameters. None of these parameters show up using this program. What am I missing?
