Control of STEP Files

As revisions of parts and drawings change rapidly, we are having an issue with knowing whether a STEP file that is sent to manufacturingmatches the part that is shown on the drawing.

Does anyone have any good practices for controlling this ?

We were considering "engraving" a feature on the Pro/E model to show the part number and revision.

Thanks

The best answer is to use Pro/E for your manufacturing. Then you don't have to worry about STEP or IGES translations.

Hello,

You can add comments to the header of your STEP-file. In this header, you can add your specific metadata.

We always send ZIP-archives to our suppliers, containing the STEP-file, but also containing an HTML-file with the metadata (version - author - id of communication - id for contract - ...). So, for the supplier, the context of the STEP-file is unambiguous.

Regards, Hugo.
