ive tried playing with them but i dont think i am getting anywhere

If your Pro/Engineer 2001 is datecode 2002280 or later then search proe installed folder

D:\...\proe2001\demos\demo\mdx\tutorial3

In this tutorial cam connection is covered.

For slot connection search this proecentral site. There is posting related to slot connections.

Even if I send it to you it will not run on previous versions. You have to upgrade otherwise you can't use cams and slot efficently . Actually 200280 onwards have improvementsand bugs fixed in MDX and MDO.
