BOM ballon in simplified representation

This depends on whether or not you are using a parametric parts list on your drawing or not.

I assume you are, so here it is: When you bring in your format your active model (and its active rep) is thecondition that is used to propagate the parts list (repeat region). If your active drawing model is in "master rep" when you bring in the format then only the views on your drawing that were created from the master rep will allow you to display balloons associatively. If you then create a view after the fact using a simplified rep of that model, you will notice that you cannot add associative balloons to that particualr view, but you can stilladd balloons manually for those particular simplified views, by creating a pre-created symbol balloon and inserting itwith leader the way you would insert any other symbol and manually enter the item number.

If on the other hand you happened to bring in the format with the "simplified rep" active, then the parametric P/L would propagate with that states model data and you would be able to add associative balloons to the simplified rep model views, but not to the master rep views. Its basically one of other, but not both as far as associativity goes.

We just bring in the format with the master rep active and simply add what we call dummy balloons (or symbol ballons) to take care of our simplified rep views. We then "fix the index" of each line item so the balloons don't accidentally become incorrect as changes occur in the model.

Hope this helps.

filmp,

I believe it's because of various simprep options. Since you can substitute the assembly with another one, also you exclude components from assembly and set them as geometry rep only it wouldn't be logical to show BOM for all of those simpreps and then it's the same with balloons. You would then have BOM with various parts that don't appear in basic assembly at all.
