How to establish Bolt & Nut Screw Mechanism for the below model using PRO-MECHANISM,


Those highlighted in,


Yello color is Screw threads


Green color is BOLT


Red color is NUT.

A helical datum curve on one part and a point on the other will allow you to


construct a "slot-follower" connection which will give a more realistic joint.


You will only need to define a rotatiional servo to create motion. If you create


the geometry properly, your pitch will vary with these changes and your


slot-follower will be updated automatically.

HI Ralexy.., u have done a good job.


I am new to Mechanism.


I had problem in creating helical datum curve.


I solved the equation for helical curve & got the points, then created datum points to create a datum curve.


Doubt:1 How to create a helical datum curve?


Doubt:2 For slot follower should I assign a servo motor?





I tried like this..,

Dhanasekar,

try putting the "point" on the moving part and the "helical curve" on the fixed part. You can see that in the animation from ralexy ( curves on the threads )

I did a similar assembly and found rack and pinion to be, in my opinion, a simpler method to achieve the same results.

In mechanism you do the following: ( as was told to me on here)



"I would not use slot followers if you do not have to! If you only
create a cylinder connection, the motion can be prescribed by a gear
pair. Use a 'rack & pinion' gear pair, which requires you to
define both a linear and a rotational axis. use the two axis from the
cylinder, and set your stops in the same place. I'll try to make a
demo model to explain it better.


-ecosgriff"this person also posted a model in the thread from the link I posted above. There is obviously more than one way to do this since the link from Ralexy shows a nice model too.
