Assigning different material properties

I'm trying to assign different material properties to a solid body.

For simplicity I'm checking things out by applying a temperature load to a bi metallic strip.

I ve managed to make it work as expected using an assembly.

But with a solid body I try to assign different propeties by first creating a volume region
but cant seem to get assign properties to that region

Any help would be greatly appreacaited
