Assembly Feature with Simplified Rep

I have an assembly feature that I would like to control
with simplified reps.
Its an assembly (sheetmetal part and vinyl label) that
has a knockout for field installed options. I created an
assembly cut thru these components hoping I could control
it with reps.
I need to show the assembly with the knockout and without
to create the appropriate views used in the installation
instructions.
Pro/E doesn't let you use features in assembly reps, and
I can't cutout the knockout at the part level since we do
not build it at the factory that way.

Any ideas? Reps, flexibility, snapshots... anything!

Two options initially come to mind.


1) Create a family table that allows you to includeor exclude the knockout feature. You can use them seperately or add the assembly to another, create simplified reps using thesubstitute by family table option.


2) You could do something similar with flexibility. Add the assembly to another assembly with flexibility set and edit the definition to change from one state to the other. You could also add two instances of the flexible assembly, one with each state, and create simplified reps to show the appropriate one.

Can you control flexibility with a simplified rep? I had
the knockout as flexible, and set it in an assembly a level
up. Messed with it for a bit but couldn't get it to work
like I wanted

The simplified rep doesn't allow you to control flexibility. You would add the assembly twice and set one with the feature resumed and one with it suppressed. You could then set the default rep to show the one without the knockout (controls what you see when you open the assembly if you want to see something other than what is in the master rep) and create another simplified rep to display the one with the knockout.
