5 point star: equation for....

skiddy

New member
Im trying to produce a five point star.... such as when you were a child! You draw the star without taking the pen off the paper...

Anyway the eqaution is:

a=5

b=3

x=(a-b)*cos(t*360)+b*cos((a-b)*t*360/b)

y=(a-b)*sin(t*360)-b*sin((a-b)*t*360/b)

z=0

But i cant seem to finalize the equation? It seems to be along the right lines.... i think the ending could be slightly wrong?

..... some where in this bit ..... ((a-b)*t*360/b)

Any ideas?

change your 360 values to 1080. the reason for this is that for every y value, there are several x values. so, when you use 360, it only graphs part of the star.
