Using a joystick instead of a Spaceball

I'm trying to experiment with using a joystick instead of a Spaceball to manipulate the view in CAD systems. I appreciate that I won't get the same performance but I am curious about how it will behave. Does anyone know of any software that will allow the joystick to talk to CAD software, ideally Pro/E?
