tank underground

New member
Hello,

I have to analyse strengh of a thank that is underground.

It's completely contrained on concrete at it's bottom and it's stressed by the pressure of the ground (topsoil + water = 1.7 density).

What kind of stress I must apply (constant pressure, force...) ?

Can someone give me an idea or a link that explain how this should be set ?

Thanks,

GB

GB,

Apply an external pressure to the outer surfaces of the tank. The pressure should vary as a function of co-ordinates, linearly from zero at ground level, using the formula p = rho.g.h, where h is the depth, g = 9.81 m/s^2 and rho is the density of the medium, in your case 1700 kg/m^3
