Tank Analysis

Can anyone help me with a Tank analysis.

I am trying to analyse a square tank loaded with oil.

I have got no idea how to do this type of analysis in Mecahanica.

I am in the process of learning differenttypes of analysisin Mechanica.

There is not a great deal of help at the PTC site either.

Is there any GURU's out there thatcan help?

"analyse a square tank loaded with oil"

You want to analyze what? the strength of the tank?, what are the boundary conditions?

For the analysis you need 3 things: which material ? what load types are applies and how is it constrained?

whether you want stress analysis, modal analysis, dynamic analysis, fatigue analysis?

After you clearly explain what you want then we will be in position to help you.

Hello Israr,

The tank will be 3mm Stainless Steel.

The load type is of the volume of Oil, cubic metre.(could be water to simplify)

The bottom has a square to round transition (about 100 high) with a 50nb" socket

The four bottom edges are the constraint as it will sit in an 50mm mild steel angle frame.

I want to see how much deflection & stress is exerted on thewalls to determine whether an internal baffle is required or just heavier material could be used.

Also, if there is too much deflection/stress maybe the frame needs to be incorporated into the tank.
