table pattern trouble

Can someone tell me what "invalid data" is in this table that won't pattern a simple hole?

you do not need to type in the d2423 and d2422 in each
cell, just the new value

Can I use any parameter/relation instead of new value?
I will then modiy parameter which in turn will modify the cell value.
I am working on WF 5.0
