stp. file

I am sending out a stp. file to our machine shop to machine a plastic part. The part contains engraving, which are curves. I would like to know how to send only the engraving curves with the stp. file. When I save the prt. file and the curves and points, it sends out all the curves. How can I send only certain curves?

The simplest and easiest way would be to copy only the entities of interest to a clean part file and export?

Alternative; segregate by layer, blank everything not to be exported. intf_out_blanked_entities = no. (Not always as simple as it sounds but useful once you get the hang of it.)

Thank you for the reply.

The machine shop is using mastercam.

I put all of my curves on a layer.

Are you saying to remove only the curves I want to show on the .stp file?

I want the engraving curves to show up on the .stp file and not as a seperate file.

Seems the rookies have trouble laying the engraving on the part in the right location if I send them out seperatly.

Thank You

oldman.... wait that sounds more like me ;-)

i did a quick test into mcam and the layers get lost with step

they can blank out items pretty easy to just get the curves though
